IFFS Symposium – Felted Hats
I took a class in making felted hats at the 2010 International Fungi and Fiber Symposium in Gysinge Sweden. All the hats were dyed using natural mushroom dyes. Fabulous fun!
Stretching and shaping the felted hat onto a hat form.
After trying on my hat, we decided that I needed a wider brim, so the hat was pulled down gently and stretched and steamed to form the brim. While the wool felt is still wet, it is very pliable and can be gently shaped.
