I took a beginner weaving class in February 1997, hoping to be able to use the looms at work (I am an occupational therapist, working with people with psychiatric disorders, and use many craft activities for treatment). I soon became hooked, and owned my first loom before the class was even finished, purchased second hand from another guild member.
Now, I still have that loom, as well as two others, and almost always have at least one project on the go. I have also introduced weaving to my patients quite successfully. I have woven tea towels, scarves, throws, shawls and napkins, and am currently weaving curtains for my bathroom.
I love being able to create original, beautiful and useful items. I have participated in this chat for a few months, and hope you enjoy it, and Päivi's page as much as I do.
