Hemp Yarns

As I am in the last minute rush of finding the perfect gift for Christmas, I thought I would do a small search of gifts for the weaver or spinner.

Big Things

A new loom, (AVL maybe?), or everyone could use an extra spinning wheel, or at least some more bobbins. Wool combs, hand or drum cards will be appreciated by the spinner.

Weaving software would certainly be appreciated.

Or for those who like to travel, perhaps a special textile tour to see artisans at work. Or even a short getaway to a Bed & Breakfast that caters to weavers or spinners.

To ease back strain, a spinning chair at the correct height helps. Dundas Looms and Louet both carry them.

Save someone the work of warping. A pre-warped warp kit is a great idea.

Weaving software, books or a subscription to a fiber magazine or videos, or music CD's are also welcome.

For accurate measuring and calculating of dyes and fiber, a good scale is a must. For those who like to dabble with colour, new dye packages are always fun to receive.

How about a McMorran balance for the weaver or spinner who wants to know how many yards of yarn are in that skein?

Stocking Stuffers

Drop spindles come in all shapes and sizes and are fun to give and receive. You might want to include a small pack of cashmere or qiviut or other luxury fiber with it.

For weavers who make lots of blankets or scarves, a Fringe Twister would be appreciated. And I think the most handy tool I received lately was a calculator that also converts Imperial to Metric.

If you have other suggestions or ideas for this Christmas, why not post them to our Forum. I hope that you all have a very happy Holiday Season and that your wishes will come true.
